The President is the figurehead and strategic manager of the LSA, who ensures that the activities and executive operations of the Association are conducted smoothly and in line with the LSA's vision.
Tanisha is in her fifth year of Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Social Science. She has a strong passion for social justice and equality. Upon completion of her studies, Tanisha wishes to pursue a legal career in family law.
Tanisha is also a Student Ambassador for the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Outside of her academic studies, Tanisha enjoys getting active outdoors, exercising, having coffee with friends, and reading.
Secretary: Indya Lawson
The Secretary manages the Association's administration and miscellaneous matters, acting as the 'glue' that holds the LSA together. This includes maintaining documentation, organising committee meetings, membership, the L Card, and information technology such as this website.
Indya is in her 3rd year of of her Bachelor of Laws/Criminology and Justice.
Outside of university, Indya works as a legal assistant with L S Lawyers and a Cash Office associate at Big W. In her down time she enjoys reading and attending book signings with friends and family.
Treasurer: Harry Blades
The Treasurer manages all financial matters of the Association.
Harry is currently in his 5th year studying a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting). He has grown up on the Sunshine Coast and was afforded the opportunity to graduate as School Capitan from Unity College in 2014. Until his appointment as Treasurer he has been informally involved in the LSA organising events as well as apart of the Mixed Netball Team. In 2018 he was lucky enough to spend 6 months abroad studying law at Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. Facing the perils of international travel was challenging let alone living and studying in a country where English was not their first language. Harry was able to grow as a person and a student, meanwhile learning from the international association the events and tools they use to allow students to interact and connect with the University.
In the same calendar year Harry was also invited to attend the University Scholars Leadership Symposium held at the United Nations in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference is a great opportunity to engage with like-minded students from across the globe to engage in discussions about global issues. Sharing living, studying and life stories was a highlight of this conference.
In 2019, Harry’s goal as an Executive member is to ensure students want to engage and be involved with the USC LSA and assist any student in transitioning into university life. Harry is always available for a coffee and a chat.
VP Education: Lauren Bennett
The VP Education is responsible for promoting all educational interests of the Association. These include issues regarding equity or social justice, academic and career-related skills, and also some professional publications.
Lauren is in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Laws degree. Upon finishing her degree she wishes to further her education and be admitted as a Barrister. Outside of university Lauren loves spending time with her family and taking her kids on adventures.
VP Competitions: Mikayla Griffin
The VP Competitions oversees, organises and manages all competitions run by the USC LSA, which is assisted by the directors of internal competitions and skills.
Mikayla has been a student at USC since 2012 where she began her university education through the Headstart Program, she has since been studying a Bachelor of Laws/ Bachelor of Criminology and Justice.
VP Events: Maddy Veivers
The VP Events organises and manages all of the Association’s professional and social events, with assistance from the Directors of Events.
Maddy is currently in her third year studying a Bachelor of Laws/Commerce (Accounting). She also works at Butler McDermott Lawyers as a legal assistant. Outside of her academic studies, Maddy enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to the beach, watching movies and reading.
VP Publications: Corben Rae
The VP Publications is responsible for the overall design, processing and production of the Association's publications.
Corben is in his third-year of law. Outside of study, Corben has a passion for all things to do with the environment, particularly sea life. After competition of his bachelor Corben would like to go into the public sector.
